We Produce Organic Fertilizers For Plants

Established in January 2022, Green Ethiopia stands at the forefront of a revolution in sustainable agriculture. Rooted in Adama, 78 km away from Addis Ababa, we are a private company that specializes in the production of 100% organic fertilizers. Our mission, encapsulated in our name, is to create a greener Ethiopia and ultimately a greener world, emphasizing long-term benefits to the soil, water, crops, and the larger ecosystem. Organic farming represents a departure from conventional farming methods. At Green Ethiopia, we view ourselves as champions of this shift, implementing innovative technologies that foster the development of more effective and environmentally friendly organic fertilizers. We believe in nurturing the soil's natural ecosystem, which we refer to as the "soil food web", optimizing its health and productivity through our products. Our approach to creating fertilizers is meticulous and nuanced. Recognizing the complexities of soil health, we shun the one-size-fits-all fertility program prevalent in the industry. Instead, we are committed to creating products tailored to specific conditions and needs. The nutrients in our fertilizers are formulated in the right ratios for plant uptake, and our products are designed to release nutrients at varying rates. This ensures that they are effective in different soil conditions, climates, and agricultural scenarios. Our production process and unique formula, honed through continuous research and testing, is ready for large-scale implementation. We have carved a niche for ourselves in the burgeoning field of organic agriculture, producing visionary products that are capable of transforming the agronomic landscape

Green Ethiopia is our promise to our communities, our planet, our consumers, our partners, and each other. Our mission is to improve the farming system and soil health, restore the ecosystem and increase yield by promoting and formulating organic fertilizers.

We aspire to become Ethiopia's leading supplier of cost-effective, balanced, and progressive organic fertilizers vital for producing above-average crop yields. We strive for sustainable agriculture that is capable of conserving our precious ecosystem by providing farmers with both safe and effective organic fertilizers that allow agriculture to flourish in harmony with nature.

Our Product

We Produce Organic Fertilizers For Plants

Organic fertilizer products of Green Ethiopia are driven from animal excreta and plant maters (fresh and dried) which makes the environment cleaner and reduces pollution. The nutrient content of our organic fertilizer greatly depends on source materials and their ratio. Even though, the nitrogen and phosphorus contents are a bit lower than in chemical fertilizers it is much gentler, not immediately absorbed into the plants, and overfeeds them. In addition, our organic fertilizer is rich in organic matter, which helps microbes thrive. The products contain carbon as part of their chemical makeup; and it is the carbon, along with nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium that feeds microbes and enables them to make nutrients available for plants in a naturally occurring biological process. Aiming for better results and the success of our customers, we have developed three types of organic fertilizers that provide solutions that are feasible, timely, and effective.

    These products are:
  1. Water Absorbent Fertilizer: This enables farmers to reduce water consumption and effectively utilize nutrients due to its slow-release nature. It is derived from 100% organic matter, and is packed with beneficial microorganisms, micronutrients, and is high in nitrogen to give crops the nutrition they need.
  2. Worm Castings: is the product of the decomposition process of organic materials using various species of worms which gives it a better quality.
  3. Mineral Mix: are more effective as they are made based on soil tests and crop types. They determine the inputs required for efficient and economic production. They allow our customers to ensure the application of enough fertilizer to meet the requirements of the crop and prevent them from using the wrong type or excess fertilizers on their fields. They save money and time and increase production. And for Green Ethiopia custommade production is a great way to build great bond with our customers and understand what they need.

Market Size

The key component of Ethiopia’s Agriculture Policy is expanding the primary and processed agricultural products. As a result, the government of Ethiopia has identified two of its crucial areas, which are increasing the productivity of small-holder farms and expanding the large-scale commercial farms. In 2020-21 about 30.2 million farmers planted nearly 10.1 million hectares of land with various commodities (wheat, maize, tef, malt barley, and sesame) out of which 5.8% of the farmers and 7.5% of the hectare was under Agricultural Commercialization Cluster (ACC). To assure productivity, around 19.2 million quintals of fertilizer were utilized, but 46.5% of farmers producing naturally, either using organic fertilizer created on their farms (which has a lower quality or an uneven distribution of nutrients) or without fertilizer. Moreover, there are about 4952 registered commercial farmers of which 47.6% are in crop production, which accounts for 5% of national production
